At long last - the Cinquecento Sporting performance chip is now ready. The chip is available for the Weber/Mareli IAW-16F-ER ECU
Extensive testing in 3 different Cinqs reveal the following features and benefits*:
- Increases torque and power across the whole rev range by an average of about 6%.
- Maximum increase in power of approx. 9% @ 3,000 RPM
- Maximum increase in torque of approx. 8.8% @ 4,500 RPM
- Increases Maximum Power by approx. 3.5%
- Increases Maximum Torque by approx. 6.8%
- Reduces 0-60 time by average of about 1 second [ from 60.05 in 13.3s to 60.125 in 12.4s]
- I think that it slightly decreases fuel consumption - on average my mpg increased from just over 40 to just over 43 over a month on a mix of cross country and fast motorway driving, but to be honest this could be spurious.
- Disables immobiliser circuit; This allows you to fit the chip in any ECU so you can have a separate ECU for track days for example. (Although if you are using it permanently you may want to fit an alternative immobiliser)
(Interestingly this solves the problem of losing the Red Key as any key that fits the steering lock will start the car)
To be entirely honest this chip is not as good as the claimed performance for Superchip™or Starchip™ but then it’s not priced at over £250
*[Test data from 1997 Cinq sporting, standard (apart from Ramair panel filter) 4 runs, 2 in each direction at 10C 1026mb and 78RH. – measured using a Dyno Plus accelerometer and RACE evaluation software. (probably not as accurate as a rolling road but nevertheless a very good indication as a comparison) N.B. Performance improvements will vary dependent on many variables not least the car and the weather for example on a low pressure wet day the improvement seen was only about half that gained on a dry high pressure cool evening]
I produce a chip for theFiat 1108 and 1242 "fire" engines with single point injection (spi) using the Magnetti Marelli IAW 16F series ECU. ie, Cinquecento and Seicento (mk 1) Sportings and Punto 55 and 60s. Search on the cinq forum and you will see plenty of posts from very happy customers.
The chip will work fine with an induction kit and a bigger exhaust. most people have these mods. The chip is fairly easy to fit, the fitting instructions are here:
http://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seice...e-ecu-chip.htmlThese are the options:
The "Universal Chip" which disables the immobiliser these can be fitted to any 1108 or 1242 spi fire engine.
The "Specific Chip" for Cinquecento and Seicento only, these keep the immobiliser active and are coded to the specific model range. I need the code printed on the label on the original chip inside the ECU. If you let me have your email address I will send you instructions to remove and open up the ECU.
