\"President of FIAT, the late Giovanni Agnelli commissioned a number of special cars in the 1950s and 1960s for the transportation of VIPs on visits to the factory. One of the most beautiful is this limousine based on the long-wheelbase 2300L made by coachbuilder Francis Lombardi in 1963. Lombardi was already well acquainted with the model, having built a number of stretched 2300s for taxi service. 5.4 metres long and handsomely finished in dark blue, this car recalls the elegance of the pre-war 2800 series. The fabric roof retracts automatically, revealing the division-separated passenger compartment that features blue leather upholstery, occasional passenger seating and grab-handles for standing dignitaries. Mechanically the car is virtually stock 2300, low-speed cruise control for parades being one of the more interesting departures from standard. While in service with FIAT, this car transported the then President of the USA, John F Kennedy, his wife Jacqueline (later Jacqueline Onassis) and the Angellis, Giovanni and his wife Marella, when the former visited Italy in 1963.\"
